Bring a little piece of Japanese tradition to your own space with a Tsumami Zaiku workshop, held at a location of your choice. All you need is a pair of tweezers and some glue—no special tools or equipment required. I bring the workshop to you! Whether you would like to host a workshop at your home, studio, community space, cultural venue, school, or private event, we can arrange the workshop at a location that works for you. Each square is carefully folded, much like origami, to form flower petals and other decorative motifs. These pieces are often used to adorn hair accessories, particularly kanzashi, which are traditionally worn for ceremonies and festivals. Tsumami Zaiku requires patience, precision, and meticulous craftsmanship. There are two main techniques: maru-tsumami, which creates rounded shapes, and ken-tsumami, which creates pointed shapes. Today, this traditional craft is also being incorporated into contemporary creations, including jewelry, accessories, and decorative objects.
